Delicious Doodles Challenge - Friday 24 October 2014 - Halloween

It is time for another challenge over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.  The topic for this weeks' challenge is "Halloween".
For my card suitable to give to any child that calls at the door for Halloween I have used the Delicious Doodles image called "Halloweenie - Crazy Chemist".  I am not sure why but when I'd printed him out he just shouted the colour green to me.  I hate the colour green so you won't see it used very often as a main colour on my blog but I think he suits being green.  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.

For my Halloween card I have used the Bearly Mine Designs paper sets called "Halloween Fantasy" and "Christmas Traditions".

I have finished the card off with a spider's web border made with a Martha Stewart punch, green and white twine, "Happy Halloween" sentiment made on the computer, "I put a spell on you" freebie sentiment from Kenny K and some Martha Stewart punched out bats.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

I decided to make a birthday card.  I have used a Ching-Chou Kuik image called "Keep in Faith" as I love sunflowers.  I have coloured my image in with my Promarkers and highlighted areas with my Wink of Stella clear pen.

I have finished the card off with a banner required for the sketch cut from some of the Christmas Ice backing paper and stamped with a Sheena Douglass script stamp, Craftwork Cards die-cut sentiment and some pearls from Buckwell Craft Supplies.

Thinking of You

For my card I have used the Sweet Pea Stamps image by Rebecca Sinz called "Despair".  It is available as a digital stamp and a rubber stamp.  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.  I have inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Old Paper distress ink.  I keep my sympathy/thinking of you cards very plain and neutral as I do not think it's a respectful time for lots of colour and embellishments.  It's just a  personal thing I know.

The backing papers are from a Wellington paper pad and my beloved Tim Holtz paper pad which is slowing disappearing.  I have used a Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die and cut some flowers out of a book and coloured half with a Sandstone Promarker and the other half with a Tan Promarkers.  They are then scrunched and a brad added to the centre to hold them together.  I have finished the card off with a die-cut sentiment tag which I have stamped "thinking of you" onto, pearls, gorgeous crochet lace and some ribbon.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Inspiration Destination - Anything goes
Word Art Wednesday - Anything goes
Creative Moments - Anything goes/Halloween/Spellbound/Fairies
Whoopsi Daisy - Shows us lots of embellishments (flowers held together with brads, ribbon, lace and pearls)
Fan-tastic Tuesday - Anything goes with the option of some flowers
Crafty Creations - Thinking of you
Aud Sentiments - 2 or 3 word sentiment
It's all about the Vintage - Anything goes
Brown Sugar Challenge - Anything goes

Happy Witching

Here is a candy holder that I have decorated for Halloween.  It's been a nightmare to take a photo of what with the mirri card and sparkly sweet wrappers!!

For my candy holder I have used a Ching-Chou Kuik digital stamp called "Chihuahua Lover".  I have coloured the image in with my Graph'it pens.  For the background I have coloured in with a blue Graph'it and then did dots with various blues, greys, blender pen and also my white Graph'it pen.  I have inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Peeled Paint distress ink.
The backing papers I have used are Bearly Mine Designs "Halloween Hauntings" (until the 31 October 2014 Halloween Hauntings and Halloween Fantasy are 50% off).  I have used an orange check paper and an orange spider web paper which I have cut up and inked around with Tim Holtz's Black Soot distress ink.

The candy holder I received from a friend.  I have stamped it all over - inside and out - with a Sheena Douglass crackle stamp and a bat stamp from Visible Image.  I have then inked around all the edges with Black Soot distress ink.

I have finished the candy holder off with some black organza ribbon from Buckwell Craft Supplies, jump rings, bat and spider charms, various fibres, sentiment off the computer, buttons and a gorgeous bat ribbon bow (I recently won a challenge that was sponsored by Crafty Ribbons.  I'd previously had a spider's web ribbon from them but had to have some more of that as well as this fantastic bat ribbon).

Ching-Chou Kuik Digital Stamps Inspiration and Challenge Blog - Post by Kym - Monday 20 October 2014

The ever so talented Ching-Chou Kuik has an Etsy Store where she sells her digital stamps.  She has:
Today is the day for me to show you my inspiration card for the Inspiration and Monthly Challenge Blog.
One of my Design Team members Sylvia picked this image for me to use whilst I was away.  The image is called "Christmas Venice Night".  I do like traditional Christmas cards but this card is purrfect (couldn't resist saying that!!) for anyone that loves animals and especially cats.

I have coloured the body of my cat in with chalks/Pan Pastels.  I did try my Graph'it pens but I wasn't happy with how it turned out so it went in the bin.  Colouring animals is still somewhere where I need more practice.  I have added glossy accents to the cat's eyes.  The rest of the image I have coloured in with my trusty Graph'it pens and highlighted areas with my white Graph'it pen and gold sparkle Graph'it pen.  For the background around the cat I coloured the whole area with 7130 (Celestial) and then dotted around with my blender and left a while.  I went back and dotted around three times and also added some dots with my white Graph'it pen.  I then inked around the edge with Tim Holtz's Peeled Paint distress ink.
I made my own card blank using a set of Sizzix Hexagon dies I got recently.  The largest shape makes a decent sized card especially with our costs of postage.

The backing papers I have used are from a new release by Donna at Bearly Mine Designs.  It is called "Christmas Traditions 2".  I love to see different coloured cards at Christmas but personally I am more of a traditional Christmas kind of girl and prefer reds and greens so this set is perfect.  It is also perfect as there are lots of the papers that could be used all year round which makes it more cost-effective ie you are not just buying it to use for Christmas cards/creations.  If you purchase "Christmas Traditions 2" before Saturday 15 November 2014 you will also get a set of 18 Christmas inserts absolutely free.  Here are all the details.

I have finished the card off with a stamped sentiment, a Marianne Designs Anja border that I got for my birthday that I have coloured with a Graph'it pen (I only used one small area of the border - it just shows you don't have to use everything), 2 poinsettias made with my Britannia poinsettia dies that I bought last year, gorgeous Bordeaux organza ribbon tied into a bow from Buckwell Craft Supplies and added some pearls to the centre of the poinsettias and the bow from Buckwell Craft Supplies.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
