Karen's Doodles United Kingdom Challenge - 31/3/10

Well it's week four over at Karen's Doodles United Kingdom Challenge.  It is a joint challenge with USA, Scandinavia, Netherlands and the UK BUT if you want to enter all four challenges it MUST be four different cards.  I have made a simple thinking of you card for the charity stall.  I don't like making these cards but this beautiful angel says more than words can say.  I have coloured her in with Promarkers and used some DCWV card from my stash on the table to complete the card along with a peel-off.

This card fits the following challenges:

Karen's Doodles United Kingdom Challenge - use the photo as inspiration
Crafts and Me - Fairies or Wings - Congratulations on your first Challenge by the way
The Pink Elephant - Pastels
Papertake Weekly Challenge - Open theme
Colour Create - Choice of pastels
For Fun Challenge - Anything goes.

Card for the Charity Stall

I have been trying to build up more stock of cards for the charity stall.  I am awaiting a supply of 8x8 ones so I shall see if these sell or not.  I have made this card using one of Mo Manning's Digital images coloured in with Promarkers.  That little dog is certainly hanging around for some titbits.  Yet again I am using up all bits-and-pieces of papers/cards and embellishments.  The paper isn't as wide as normal as it had got dog-eared at one corner.  I soon won't have that problem when I use up all my stash of paper/card and all the bits-and-pieces!!!  I haven't decoupaged the image like I sometimes do but this time I put the image on 3mm foam and also did the same for the flower embellishments.  I was also given the nice mount but unfortunately on its Royal Mail journey one end got battered beyond use - that is until I hid the bad bit under a large flower!!

This card fits the following challenges:

For Fun Challenge - Anything goes
ABC Challenge - R is for Red
Papertake Weekly - Open theme
Digital Tuesday - Use up scraps
Sophisticats - Raining cats and dogs
Cute Daisy May - Things for boys
The Pink Elephant - Pastels
Cute Card Thursday - Dimension
Colour Create - Choice of pastels.

Card for the Charity Stall

When it was a friend's birthday a couple of months ago she was sent some gorgeous die-cut mats from a friend in Holland.  She kindly shared them with me so I thought it was about time I made some into cards.  I have used various backing papers from my stash and on top of this place a white and gold vellum.  I've never put patterned vellum on top of patterned paper but like the effect.  I've attached the vellum with four brads I bought 1-2 years ago and have never used.  The butterfly is from Papermania and it is a build-your-own- butterfly.  I couldn't cut around the attenae so I made them out of wire instead.  The butterfly I have coloured in with Promarkers and added clear and green Stickles glitter glue to accent the butterfly wings.  I have distressed the edges of the die-cut mount to accentuate the cut area.

This card fits the following challenges:

Paper Sundaes - Photo as inspiration
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Decoupage using a stamped image
Frosted Designs - Transparency
Flutterby Wednesday - Open theme
Crazy Amigo - Butterflies.

Prairie Fairy Challenge 26/3/10

Over at the Prairie Fairy Challenge Blog this week the topic is an easel card.  I had one of the Prairie Fairy images coloured in with my Promarkers and Copics so I thought I'd give her a new home on this card.  I have used various sheets of paper/card from my stash and distressed all the edges of the papers.  I then used my Wizard and embossed the tree for the little fairy to sit in front of.  I have used my Sakura Stardust clear pen to add glitter to the whole tree, the fairies wings and parts of her dress.  The part to make the card stand up is an archway from a card I was given - I thought it would make a nice tag - and it's adorned with some brads which I have had for 1-2 years and the butterfly I've had even longer than that.

This card also fits the following challenges:

Sassie Designs by Susie - Spring Garden
Cute Daisy May - Fairy, fairy
Simon Says Challenge - Easter or Spring with glitter
Stampin' Royalty - Get glittery
Flutter by Wednesday - Open theme
Lots to do - Vintage
The Cuttlebug Spot - If you had wings
Digital Tuesday - Happy Spring.

Karen's Doodles United Kingdom Challenge 24/3/10

Over at the Karen's Doodles United Kingdom Challenge this week they have a sketch.  I have used the cute picture of the tortoise and mouse having a cuppa in the garden.  Oh for Spring and then Summer to come!!!  I have coloured the image in with Promarkers.  For the border element I have used a piece of lace and coloured it with Tim Holtz's Faded Jeans Distress Ink Pad.  The card is finished off with some card candy, flowers, hat pin with bead and a sentiment off the computer.

This card also fits the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Dimensions
Crafty Cardmakers - Spring into spring
Incy Wincy - Easter or Spring

Commissioned Birthday Card

The same customer that asked for the Art Deco bookmark also wanted a birthday card with angels on it and the rest was left to me.  That's what I like - just an indication on the topic and then I can pick what I think they'll like.

The images for this card are from Joanna Sheen's Precious Petals Cd.  The CD is wonderful and it was hard which images to use but as I went for a square concertina card I mainly went for square shaped angel images.  All the papers and card were used from my stash on the table apart from the heart shaped papers were were from Crafty Ann's Digi Store.  It's amazing how my stash of paper and card is going down and down - in a few months' time I might be needing to print papers off again but at least it has been a good New Year's Resolution to use up my paper/card stash as we are nearly at the end of March and I'll still going strong.

The card is finished off with peel-offs, gems, ribbon, flowers, charms (which I've had for some years now), card candy, butterfly embellishments and pearls.  Yes it's bit of mixture of embellishments but I think the expanse of the card means that it can take it.

Roll on next week when I should find out if I got it right for the card and the bookmark!!!

Commissioned Bookmark

I was asked to make a bookmark from one of my customers.  This is the first for me.  He said that it HAD to be Art Deco and left the rest to me.  I have made numerous bookmarks but never been totally happy with any that I've laminated.  I recently saw someone on Create and Craft making a tent style bookmark and I thought this would be perfect.  I used my My Craft Studio Deco Follies CD and decided I wouldn't just decorate two sides, I'd do all four so the recipient could change which way round she wants it each time she uses it.  I have used plenty of layers so that you know there is a bookmark left in the book and no chance of it going back in a book to the library!!  The bookmark has peel-offs and gems to accent areas.  I need some therapy as I used one of my beloved tassels on it to finish it off.

I am entering this bookmark into the following challenges:

The Character Cafe - Anything but a card
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Make a bookmark
Cute Card Thursday - Dimension.

Easter card

I was asked to make an Easter card for a customer.  I used a Sew many Cards imahe of Miki (the monkey) dressed up as a bunny rabbit.  He's got some yummy Easter eggs in his basket.  Shall we share?  I have coloured the image with Promarkers and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz's Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks.  The backing paper is from a magazine and the lace I bought recently.  The flowers were made from a Judikins cube stamp that I bought for £1 from Stamp Addicts in their sale earlier in the year.  The card is finished off with peel-offs, gems and an Easter egg charm which I have had for 1-2 years or maybe even longer!!!

This card fits the following challenges:

Quirky Crafts - Flowers
Crafty Cardmakers - Spring into spring
Lexi's Creations - Easter theme

Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - Friday 26/3/10

I cannot believe that another two weeks has come and gone and it is time for yet another Crafty Ann's Challenge.  This fortnight the topic is to make something for someone special.  It is my Mum's birthday this coming Sunday so my Design Team card is for her.

I have used one of Crafty Ann's new digital images of a lovely comfy chair which looks so inviting.  I decided I'd make a 9x8 inch card so made the chair quite large so it didn't feel lost on the card.  I then popped on one of  Karen's Doodles images of a cute little girl with her button teddy and also cropped the image so I could decoupage it up three layers.  The backing papers are from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop and are the Abstract 2 in lilac and pink and I have used my Martha Stewart lattice punch on most of the edges and then distressed with Tim Holtz's Dusty Concord Distress Ink pad and cut-and-dry foam.  I also printed off quite a number of sheets of Ann's various flower images and coloured them in with various shades of pinks and lilac/purple Promarkers and cut them out and placed them in different places on the card.  In the centres of the flowers I stuck some Papermanis glitter circles.  The card is finished off with a verse, sentiment off the computer and some gingham ribbon I've had for a year or more but couldn't bare to use!!!

Click here and have a look at Crafty Ann's Challenge this fortnight.

Card for the Charity Stall

I have used one of my Pollycraft images, Clover - I believe, for this card.  I have used backing papers and card that I have been given.  The image I have coloured in with Promarkers and distressed the edges of the stamped image and two mounts with three Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads and then brushed over Cosmic Shimmer powder to make it very sparkly.  I have made the flowers out of some of the backing papers and an X-cut punch with card candy for the centre.

Card for Three Challenges

I have gone for a totally different look with this Cute Daisy May image ie making her a vintage-style as the topic this week for the Cute Daisy May Challenge was anything goes.  I have used three different backing papers but I'm sorry I don't know the make as I was given them.  I have used my new X-cut flourish and flower punches alongside my Martha Stewart lattice punch.  The card is finished off with some gems, some card candy and a ticket from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop.

This card also fits two other challenges:

One Stitch at a Time - Vintage
Die-cut Dreams - Use at least two punches.

A Cheery Spring Card

I am still trying to use papers/card up before printing off any new ones.  Since this being my New Year's Resolution I've only printed off maybe half a dozen papers in nearly three months - not sure whether that's good or it implies I had too much card/paper beforehand!!!  The card I used for this card came in a Red Hot Bed set which I liked too much to use but it's being used now.  The image is from Karen's Doodles and I have coloured the little girl and her teddy in with Promarkers.  I have finished the card off with some flowers, buttons and peel-off from the same kit, a ticket sentiment from Crafty Ann's Digi Shop, some glitter circles and lots and lots of Cosmic Shimmer Twinkles to add some glitz and glamour.

This card fits the following challenges:

Artful Inkables - Birthday
Karen's Doodles Dutch Challenge - Bling and Glamour
Frosted Designs - Think Spring
Crafty Catz - Spring
One Stop Craft - Let it Shine
Secret Crafter - Spring has Sprung
Lots to do - Springtime
Saturday Spotlight - Birthday card using your birthstone (mine is October and is therefore opal and pink tourmaline so I chose the pink tourmaline)
Magical Crafts Fortnightly Challenge - Spring/Easter.
